The game industry isn’t build by one person, it’s an orchestra of different roles playing in harmony (or glorious chaos). Whether you’re into systems, creative conjurer, detail-obsessed, there will be a place for you in this industry. But! Be wary; titles vary, responsibilities shifts and every studio plays by it’s own rulebook.
Below is an overview of common departments and the roles you’ll find within them. Click through to explore each one in more depth.
Note: Not every studio will have every title listed. Smaller teams may combine responsibilities, larger ones may split them further. Flexibility is the norm, not the exception.
Don’t obsess over titles, focus on responsibilities. If a role excites you, dive deeper. You may already have skills that fit that job more than you think.
